I’m quite certain I could have hobbled together some quotes about the beauty of struggle. Something like, only in darkness can you see your light, or only through struggle can you find your strength. But who am I kidding, this is a picture of a bright door on a dark alley in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. When I saw it, I thought, “that looks dope”. That’s it. I didn’t see it as an allegory for the human condition. What I saw was the way the blue grime on the mirror contrasted with the color of the stone below it. I thought it looked neat, so I snapped.
